The Cederberg family has been cheering the hearts of children and adults for over 47 years with their beautiful "Storybook Amusement Park" called Deer Acres. Located as a gateway to northern Michigan, Deer Acres is a magnificent testimony to what hard work can do, not only bringing joy to thousands of visitors each year, but also glory to God through displaying His beautiful nature. Rodger: We decided to do a charitable remainder trust for a couple of reasons. First, we felt it was good business sense. We would have had to pay capital gains on the sale of our business. In giving to the charitable trust, the gift will help us be tax free for up to five years. We are also able to get 9% on the trust for the rest of our lives, and we don't know where else we could get that kind of interest on our money. If anything would happen to one of us, we know that our spouse has an income set up for them as long as they need it.
 Sharyl: We also wanted to have the ability give to the charities of our choice. We know the money we have earned is all a gift from God, and like a lot of people we always wish we could do more. Our prayer is that after we are gone to be with the Lord, the gift we left behind will help to reach more people for the Lord -- and His work goes on.
Rodger: We feel that if you have a business to sell, or you have savings you have accumulated over a lifetime, a charitable trust is a great place to invest for yourself and for God's work!
